A similar incident happened on the Second Vatican Council. Under the pretext of having breeched the protocol, the microphone of Cardinal Ottaviani - the leader of the Catholic faction - was turned off on the third day of the Council.

El sitio web Katholisch.de escribe el 7 de octubre que el incidente estuvo seguido de “protestas menores”. Al cardenal no se le permitió concluir su declaración. Habitualmente, este tipo de humillaciones son infligidas solamente a representantes del ala católica.

Un incidente similar ocurrió en el Concilio Vaticano II. Bajo el pretexto de haber violado el protocolo, el micrófono del cardenal Ottaviani – el líder de la fe católica- fue apagado el tercer día del Concilio.
